1999 was a difficult year
with things not going our way right from the beginning of the
year, however a lot of important decisions were made and a much
was accomplished during the year. Lots of visitors and new additions
to the family.
WASA's policy of not pumping
water to us forced us to build a 25000 gallon tank and we acquired
a superb patio into the bargain.
Suma had nine pups, five
surviving and we kept Toby and Dusty.
Event of the year was Lynne
and John's wedding in St. Lucia, at the Royal St. Lucian Hotel.
The year 2000 started in style
with a two hour traffic jam in Rodney Bay at 3.00 am in the morning.
Perhaps a sign of things to come on our roads in the North? It has
to be said that 2000 started a lot better than the previous year.
Follow up to "Event
of the year was in March -- Sophie."
We celebrated 30 years
of married bliss on the 1st August.
Our citizenship application
continues to drag on - looks like it will take at least twelve
months.
Well, one crisis after
another this Christmas and New Year. I got a splinter in my finger
that decided to swell up after having been been removed for nearly
three weeks and Dusty's elbow joint is giving cause for concern.
It has been swollen for some time and kept getting bigger.
We had Dusty's leg amputated
just before Christmas - oesteo-carcinoma! Not good. She is now
on chemotherapy.
We are hopeful.
My finger was operated
on in January. Dusty looks good and is managing well.
27th March -- sad day--
I took Dusty and had her put to sleep -- she had a large tumour
in her mouth and whilst we could have had it removed she was
not walking well and was very thin. It doesn't seem fair!
Finally, 4th May, good
news, we heard that our citizenship has been approved. It has
taken the police only 7 months to write their report!
Elaine managed a short
trip to Canada - I like the place, but it doesn't offer much
more than the UK. Cold and polluted from the USA.
Well, a good start to
2002, I got the chance of a trip to Mexico and Miami so I jumped
at it. Leave at the 11th January 2002. We are expecting Dot
and Jim at the end of January so this will work out OK.
Elaine went to Grenada
for the first time, with Maria and had a really good holiday.
They took lots of pictures and met many people that we had met
previously in St. Lucia. She is now planning her July UK trip.
